Responsibilities
Working closely and collaboratively with the Chief Investment Officer, Phil Rotner, and three Investment Directors, the successful candidate will lead investment portfolio risk management. He/she will enhance and apply structured frameworks for incorporating analytics and qualitative judgments via systematic processes to assess investment risks and inform investment decisions. Also, demonstrated leadership in working with junior members of investment teams to productively advance the mission is a key role.
Specific tasks may include:
In collaboration with the Investment team, reviewing and recommending BCH’s long-term investment policy, including leading asset allocation analyses and scenario specification and testing alternative allocation policies;
Establishing a risk budgeting framework for evaluating alternative investments and managing risk of the BCH portfolios;
Evaluating new strategies for possible inclusion in the BCH portfolios; implementing innovative portfolio construction techniques;
Recommending appropriate re-balancing policies associated with the long-term asset allocation policy;
Oversight of liquidity requirements;
Advising on shorter term, tactical asset allocation strategies;
Working with the investment team to evaluate new investment managers;
Focusing on market risk and return attribution (absolute and relative to policy), liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and external-manager-specific risk;
Improving, streamlining, and consolidating BCH’s risk infrastructure and customized reporting;
Communicating complex investment-risk-related concepts to varied audiences—colleagues on investment team, CIO, Board members, and other BCH stakeholders; and
Researching and analyzing hedging and overlay strategies. This position is based in the BCH offices in Boston.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an independent thinker, but must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, as he/she will work closely with others across the investment team. As a key member of the investment team, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to the overall success of BCH’s portfolios.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of capital markets and derivative markets. He/she will have experience and exposure to investment strategies across a broad set of asset classes, including alternative investments. The person will also have experience in creative portfolio construction techniques.
The candidate should possess the following qualities; a strong collaborative philosophy which will align well with BCH culture, in addition to a demonstrated history of solid investment judgment, an ability to lead while executing strategy, achieving goals, and to be able to interface, building strong working relationships with executives and internal partners. He/she will also have a proven professional track, exhibiting a high degree of integrity and ethics. The following are some added areas which will be beneficial for the candidate to have in their background:
Strong working knowledge of risk management and the ability to leverage manager selection process and overall assessment of portfolio risk and return.
A willingness to take responsibility for strategic initiatives and the ability to think analytically.
Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to be credible when presenting to the Investment Committee and other significant internal and external constituencies.
The successful candidate for this role should have a minimum of an undergraduate degree. A degree from a strong academic institution would be preferred, in addition to demonstrated related work experience. An advanced academic degree and/or a CFA will be considered beneficial.

Compensation
Our client is prepared to offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary, a discretionary bonus, and benefits.
