Quantitative Risk Researcher 1

A Quantitative Risk Analyst position for Risk & Quantitative Research (RQR) Group. This position works closely with the Portfolio Manager's to improve risk and investment processes, covering either equities OR fixed income and FX products. This position can be based in NYC or Stamford, CT. Quantitative Risk Analysts perform research to identify opportunities for improved risk management, investment behavior, and portfolio construction, with the goal of helping the firm deliver superior risk-adjusted performance.  The paramount mission of the team is to protect the Firm from improper levels of exposure and ensure that risk-taking is always efficient and deliberate. Responsibilities:
  • Investigate portfolios and strategies to understand the drivers of performance and develop reports that summarize the risk profiles and facilitate efficient risk management as well as improve understanding of portfolio construction and investment behavior.
  • Drive improvements in stress testing, Value at Risk and various limit frameworks around concentration and liquidity.
  • Evaluate external-vendor risk models to adapt and improve them (for example, developing and adding custom factors to those models) and oversee the deployment of the models.
  • Conduct research to develop innovative risk management approaches, tools and analytics to help improve performance and better manage risk and deliver those research findings to senior management.

Qualifications:
 
  • 3+ years of experience in a quantitative research or risk management capacity covering fixed-income and/or FX investing
  • Strong background in statistics, math, and econometrics
  • Ability to manipulate and synthesize large data sets
  • High level of proficiency in SQL and quantitative programming (Python, MATLAB, R)

This critical position will provide quantitative analysis to Portfolio Managers, by advising them on how to manage their portfolios based on factor/risk exposures. The ideal candidate will have extensive factor modeling and equities experience, coupled with exceptional quantitative skills. The position can be based in Chicago or New York. Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with business leadership to make decisions about risk, portfolio construction, and technology that will impact Portfolio Managers.
  • Liaise with Quantitative Research teams and Fundamental Portfolio Managers to apply appropriate quantitative and risk tools to impact strategies
  • Conduct research and statistical analyses in the evaluation of securities including portfolio construction, multi-factor modeling, TCA and Market Impact Modeling

Responsibilities
    Working closely and collaboratively with the Chief Investment Officer, Phil Rotner, and three Investment Directors, the successful candidate will lead investment portfolio risk management. He/she will enhance and apply structured frameworks for incorporating analytics and qualitative judgments via systematic processes to assess investment risks and inform investment decisions. Specific tasks may include:
 In collaboration with the Investment team, reviewing and recommending BCH’s long-term investment policy, including leading asset allocation analyses and scenario specification and testing alternative allocation policies;
 Establishing a risk budgeting framework for evaluating alternative investments and managing risk of the BCH portfolios;
 Evaluating new strategies for possible inclusion in the BCH portfolios; implementing innovative portfolio construction techniques;
 Recommending appropriate re-balancing policies associated with the long-term asset allocation policy;
 Oversight of liquidity requirements;
 Advising on shorter term, tactical asset allocation strategies;
 Working with the investment team to evaluate new investment managers;
 Focusing on market risk and return attribution (absolute and relative to policy), liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and external-manager-specific risk;
 Improving, streamlining, and consolidating BCH’s risk infrastructure and customized reporting;
 Communicating complex investment-risk-related concepts to varied audiences—colleagues on investment team, CIO, Board members, and other BCH stakeholders; and
 Researching and analyzing hedging and overlay strategies. This position is based in the BCH offices in Boston.

 

Qualifications
    The successful candidate will be an independent thinker, but must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, as he/she will work closely with others across the investment team. As a key member of the investment team, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to the overall success of BCH’s portfolios.

    The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of capital markets and derivative markets. He/she will have experience and exposure to investment strategies across a broad set of asset classes, including alternative investments. The person will also have experience in creative portfolio construction techniques.
    The candidate should possess the following qualities; a strong collaborative philosophy which will align well with BCH culture, in addition to a demonstrated history of solid investment judgment, an ability to lead while executing strategy, achieving goals, and to be able to interface, building strong working relationships with executives and internal partners. He/she will also have a proven professional track, exhibiting a high degree of integrity and ethics. The following are some added areas which will be beneficial for the candidate to have in their background:
 Strong working knowledge of risk management and the ability to leverage manager selection process and overall assessment of portfolio risk and return.
 A willingness to take responsibility for strategic initiatives and the ability to think analytically.
 Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to be credible when presenting to the Investment Committee and other significant internal and external constituencies.

The successful candidate for this role should have a minimum of an undergraduate degree. A degree from a strong academic institution would be preferred, in addition to demonstrated related work experience. An advanced academic degree and/or a CFA will be considered beneficial.

Job Description Primary Purpose of the Position The primary purpose of the Investment Specialist role is to provide leverage to the investment organization by sharing T. Rowe Price’s investment insights within an assigned asset class primarily (but not exclusively) to US Intermediary (USI) prospects, clients, and consultants. As a member of the investment organization, and especially through partnering with Portfolio Specialists and Portfolio Analysts, this individual will maintain subject matter expertise within their asset class. They will be responsible for tying together various investment and market insights of their assigned asset class to develop content and share those perspectives with clients, allowing for more well-informed investment decisions and for more consultative conversations between the TRP sales team and the financial advisors. This role will spend the majority of the time( between 35-50%) traveling in the field and at conferences with the sale steams, supporting T. Requirement:

(1) Experience in website development and management is a plus;

(2) Strong interests in information technology and hardware;

  • Marketing Officers (1~2):

Responsibilities:

(1) Website content maintenance: update website content as needed such as roadshow/seminar events announcements, after-events report, job posting, and other activities;

(2) Wechat platform maintenance: edit and post wechat articles including roadshow/seminar events announcements, after-events report, job posting;

(3) Media resources maintenance: manage the media resources library for BCIC events;

(4) Media relations: establish and maintain collaboration with other media and organizations.

Requirement:

(1) Passionate in participating BCIC roadshow/seminar events and gathering video/photo resources for BCIC events;

(2) Experience in photo or video editing/design is a plus;
